What will I learn?
- How to add and change in a Wiki - using a Wiki sandbox
- Where to create a free Wiki of my own
- How to create my Wiki
Play around in a Wiki Sandbox!
“Sandbox” is the term that wikis often use to describe the area of the website that should be used for pure play.
To become familiar with how a wiki works we’ve set up a whole “Learning 2.0 Wiki Sandbox” for the ILN that’s for nothing but play! For this “explore-and-play-with-wikis” exercise, you are asked to add an entry or two to the “Learning 2.0 Wiki Sandbox” wiki. The theme of this wiki is simply “Favorites”. The address is http://ilngulf.pbwiki.com/FrontPage To sign into the ILN wiki use email: martinz8077@gmail.com and password: iln08
Edit and have fun in our wiki! Change the color scheme, add pages or edit existing pages. Look through the ‘history’ to see what others have been up to!
Where to create a wiki of my own?
There are many wiki places to go to create a free Wiki of your own. Check out some of these sites:
- wetpaint
- pbwiki (this is probably my favorite for ease of use)
- wikispaces
- mediawiki
- google sites
How to create my wiki?
This wetpaint video shows you how easy it is to use.
Many of the same ideas are found in other wikis .. but they may be different in how they do things. I have found pbwiki to be VERY intuitive and easy to use - especially the new pbwiki 2.0. Check out the security features of each application.
Now, what do I have to do?
- Create your own Wiki - it really only takes a few minutes.
- Post the name of your wiki with a link in the comments section below.
